The first of October, otherwise known as ‘central heating day’, is when a lot of people will be switching on their heating for the first time since the summer, and it is fast approaching. Central heating is undoubtedly wonderful, but the bills that come with it can be less so!
The “terrible 3’s” can be a tough time for parents. You’ve just got through the “terrible 2’s but your 3 year old boy is still throwing toys around, screaming, crying, waving his arms around and refusing to communicate with you. You might try to discipline in to no avail – he just carries on screaming! When I’m working with children, one of the key ways to help them enjoy activities and improve their skills is through encouragement. I think it plays a huge part in why they’re so willing to cooperate and continue to join in activities. If a child is struggling with an activity they will often become frustrated, and willing to give up because they’re aware that they might not be as skilful as other children in the group. By encouraging children you can actually help to teach and explain them whilst giving them the confidence to flourish.
